Improving effects of the mushroom Yamabushitake (Hericium erinaceus) on mild cognitive impairment: a double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial

A 16-week double-blind RCT (n=30) found significantly higher cognitive function scores in the Lion's Mane group vs placebo. Scores decreased after discontinuation, suggesting the effect is compound-dependent.

Reduction of depression and anxiety by 4 weeks Hericium erinaceus intake

A placebo-controlled study of 30 menopausal women found that H. erinaceus supplementation significantly reduced self-reported anxiety and irritability scores compared to placebo over 4 weeks.

Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi mushroom) for cancer treatment (Cochrane Review)

The most authoritative meta-analysis of Reishi in oncology. Reviewed 5 RCTs (n=373). Found Reishi positively stimulated host immune functions and patients were more likely to respond to chemotherapy when taking G. lucidum.

Water-soluble Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharides and sleep quality in neurasthenia patients

An 8-week RCT (n=132) demonstrated that G. lucidum extract significantly improved sleep quality scores, reduced fatigue, and improved overall wellbeing in neurasthenia patients compared to placebo.
